What is a generic medication?

Generic medications are significantly discounted copies of brand name medication that have the same active ingredients, intended use, dosage, side effects, effects, and route of administration as the original brand name medication. In other words, generic medications have the same pharmacological effects as their brand-name counterparts. Over half of all prescribed medications are for generic medications.

  • Aldactazide Overview

Aldactazide is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, or extra fluid in the body (edema). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.spironolactone and hydrochlorothiazide. Both medications are "water pills" (diuretics) and cause your body to get rid of extra salt and water. This effect helps to relax the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily and may increase the amount of urine you make when you first start the product. Spironolactone also helps to treat or prevent low blood potassium levels and block the activity of a certain natural substance (aldosterone) that can cause edema. Your doctor may direct you to start taking the individual medications first, and then switch you over to this combination product if this is the best dose combination for you.

  • How to Use Aldactazide

Take Aldactazide by mouth with or without food, usually once or twice daily or as directed by your doctor. If you take Aldactazide too close to bedtime, you may need to wake up to urinate. It is best to take Aldactazide at least 4 hours before your bedtime. If you have any questions about how and when to take Aldactazide, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The Dosage of Aldactazide is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Use Aldactazide regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time(s) each day. Keep taking Aldactazide even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. If you are on restricted fluid intake, consult your doctor for further instructions. Contact your doctor if you are unable to drink fluids or if you have diarrhea/vomiting that doesn't stop. Aldactazide may make you more sensitive to the sun. It may also increase your risk for skin cancer, especially if you take it for a long time. Limit your time in the sun. Avoid tanning booths and sunlamps. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Tell your doctor right away if you get sunburned, have skin blisters/redness, or notice new or changed moles/skin lesions. If you have diabetes, Aldactazide may affect your blood sugar. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication, exercise program, or diet. Aldactazide may affect the potassium levels in your blood. Before using potassium supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of Aldactazide, especially the effects on potassium (see Side Effects section), dizziness, or lightheadedness. Dizziness and lightheadedness can increase the risk of falling. During pregnancy, Aldactazide should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. • Aldactazide Side Effects

    What are Aldactazide side effects?

Side effects are physical, mental or emotional symptoms which occur in addition to or outside of the desired effect of a therapeutic treatment such as an over-the-counter or prescribed drug or medication. Side effects from Aldactazide may occur at the beginning or at the end of treatment and may also depend on the length of time an individual remains on the treatment. Side effects, also known as adverse effects, are generally more likely to occur when starting treatment. Individuals may also experience side effects from Aldactazide as a result of an interaction with other medications.

    Side Effects of Aldactazide

The side effects of Aldactazide may vary in number and intensity for many different reasons. Factors such as age, weight, gender and ethnicity may influence the side effects of Aldactazide. Also, an individual’s state of general physical health and seriousness of the disease or illness as well as an increase or decrease in dosage may lead to side effects. Further, side effects from Aldactazide may also occur as a result of an interaction with certain herbal supplements, foods or drinks.

Prescription drug side effects can be serious and may cause patients to stop the treatment. However, when side effects from the use of a prescription drug, such as Aldactazide, do occur a patient should consult their physician. A physician may prescribe an additional treatment in order to control the symptoms or an adjustment in the dosage may be made. In addition, changes to diet, exercise or other lifestyle activities may help to lessen the side effects of Aldactazide.
